How to Rank High in Google
The results below came from a German SEO company called Sistrix that did a comprehensive research on over 10,000 random keywords and for each keyword, they analyzed the Top 100 results which is a total of over a million pages analyzed.
Keywords in Title Tag
Keywords in TITLE Tag is weighted as an important factor in ranking high in SERPs and the same keywords have to be mentioned within the BODY tag too..
Keywords in H1 tag
Surprisingly, keywords in H1 tag don’t have an effect on the SERPs rankings.
Keywords in H2,H3,H4,H5,H6 headline tags seem to have a significant influence on search engine rankings when compared to H1 tag. Look at the graph and you will noticed that by inserting 1, 2 keywords in H2 - H6 tags, the chances of getting #1 is very high.
Keywords In Bold/Strong
Keywords written in BOLD or STRONG seem to have a slight effect on SERPs rankings.
Keywords in ALT Tag
Websites that include targeted keywords in names of images and as ALT attribute in IMG Tag rank higher than those websites that give random name to their images and random ALT text.
Parameters in URLs
Web pages that use fewer parameters in their URL such as index.php?cat=SEO rank higher than websites that use a lot of parameters.
Keywords in domain name
Keywords rich domain usually rank higher than domains that do not include keywords. (This is a common knowledge)
Inbound links
Inbound links and Page Rank have a big influence on SERPs ranking. The statistic says that first page results have 4 times more links compared to result #11.
Last but not least, the file size of a website also seem to influence the SERPs rankings. Websites with a smaller file size tend to rank higher than “heavy-weight” websites.
Surprised by the results? Try them out and see how it can help your website. I have personally changed our keywords in H1 to H2 and H3 to see if it helps. Will update on this article again.
